Fife Council has announced the opening of thirty new council houses in Dunfermline.
Tenants have already moved into the new development, which features a mixture of detached and semi-detached homes of one and two storeys that offer 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms.
Eight amenity bungalows and a further 4 properties are suitable for wheelchairs and will provide homes for tenants with specific needs.
The homes feature solar panels, energy efficient windows and heating systems, as well as safety features such as sprinkler systems.
The scheme was built on the site of the former Blacklaw Primary School.
The development has two streets named after Dunfermline Athletic footballers of the 1960s; Harry Melrose and the late John Lunn.
Kingdom Housing Association Project managed the £3.1m build, with help in the form of a £900,000 grant subsidy from the Scottish Government.
The remainder was funded by Fife Council.
City of Dunfermline Area Committee Chair, Councillor Mike Rumney, said: "I’m thrilled to see homes of such a high standard being made available to people on the Fife Housing Register waiting list. They are a lovely mix of fit for purpose properties.
"It’s great that they are occupied in time for these families to enjoy Christmas in a new home. Many of the tenant’s were on the transfer list which means that other houses will also be freed up for rent as a result of this new development."
Housing Minister Margaret Burgess added: "Fife Council is one of many local authorities across Scotland that have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to apply for funding to help reverse decades of decline in council house building.
"Additionally, these thirty homes demonstrate that Increasing council house building will help keep the economy moving by safeguarding jobs and supporting the construction industry."
Scott Kirkpatrick, Development Manager for Kingdom Housing Association remarked: "Kingdom Housing Association has been delighted to continue to work in close partnership with Fife Council on this exciting project and, once the tenants’ homes are completed, the design, layout and materials used will allow them to enjoy their new homes to the full with the added comfort that this project has been awarded Secured by Design accreditation by Fife Constabulary."
