Linwood Community Sports Hub in Renfrewshire has received one of the highest Considerate Constructors Scheme scores in the UK for a live working site.
The £19.6m sports facility is being built by BAM Construction and is due to be finished by Spring next year.
The development will include an adult day care facility, three swimming pools, an eight court sports hall, dance and aerobic studios, fitness suite, squash courts, changing rooms with showers, a community cafe and community facilities, as well as a refurbished synthetic pitch and an upgraded athletics track and grass pitches.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a UK wide initiative which seeks to improve standards within the industry.
The Scheme designates independent, qualified industry professionals to judge buildings based on a Code of Practice.
The Linwood Community Hub was ranked among the top 3% of UK sites, achieving a score of 92.5%
This was awarded the highest mark possible for the environment and responsibility categories.
The report said: "The site continues to be a good example of a professionally run site, demonstrating a level of professionalism which is beneficial for the industry."
Commenting on the achievement, Douglas Keillor from BAM Construction, said: "The impact a live construction site can have on a local community is significant and it’s important that we respect that and adhere to a Code of Practice to ensure responsibility and accountability at all times.
"Thanks to a team effort we have a good reputation within the Scheme however, to score such high rankings is rarely achieved so we’re delighted for our hard working team on site and the local community alike."
The existing Linwood Sports Centre is currently being demolished. The Greensyde Day Care Centre will close and transfer to the new facility. Elderslie Swimming Pool will also close.
