A community in Edinburgh has been divided over controversial plans to redevelop Scotland’s oldest rugby ground.
Plans and an artist's impression have been unveiled detailing the £8m revamp of Edinburgh Academicals in Stockbridge.
The ground hosted the world's first rugby international in 1871.
Plans for the refurbishment of the stadium include the erection of stands, seating for 2,500 spectators and a new clubhouse and facilities.
A new museum, licensed premises and function space will be included along alterations to the external landscape and car and coach parking.
But a campaign to stop the development, Save Stockbridge, is attempting to stop the development going ahead.
A statement on the group’s website said: "Although the developers have undertaken a public consultation process, we have found that many residents are still unaware that such a major development, with the potential to fundamentally change the character of the area forever, is being progressed right on their doorstep."
However the club said it must modernise to survive.
Frank Spratt, Edinburgh Academicals spokesman, told BBC Scotland: "What we are seeking to ensure is that club rugby can have a proud future, as well as a glorious past.
"The Accies simply cannot afford to pay £100,000 each year for facilities that are simply not up to scratch.
"After an amazing year of sport for Scotland and Britain, it is ironic that we are having to fight so hard to ensure that our sport can continue to thrive in North Edinburgh.
"Rugby was not an Olympic sport this summer, but Rugby Sevens will be in Rio in 2016.
"If the Olympic legacy is to be meaningful, investment in getting young people active in sport has to be prioritised."
