An anti-windfarm protest in Perth is due to be staged during the SNP’s annual conference.
Protestors are planning to take to the streets in protest against what they see as the government’s obsession with windfarm energy.
Campaign groups like the Scottish Mountaineering Council and Communities Against Turbines Scotland (CATS), are expected to take part in the protest, which is being led by a small group of Perthshire campaigners.
One stunt which has been planned for the protest is the flying of a blimp 125m above the city. This is intended to illustrate the height of the turbines planned for the Gask Ridge in Perthshire.
Campaigners are protesting what they see as the "creeping industrialisation" of the Scottish countryside and the SNP’s tendency to overturn appeals and implement subsidies in favour of building more windfarms.
The protestors are due to make their presence known to the government when they convene in Perth on Saturday, October 20 in time for the SNP’s conference.
The Gask and Strathearn Protection Society (GASPS) will marshal opponents of the SNP's green energy policies on Perth's South Inch.
GASPS chairman Brian Simpson says the Scottish public should be more aware of the government’s plans.
"The threat of turbines may once have seemed remote to many but with these proposals windfarms have begun to creep into the lowlands," he told The Courier website.
He said he hopes the Perth march will be a symbol of the increasing anger in communities at green energy policies.
"We have secured permission for a march from the South Inch to Perth Conference Hall on Saturday October 20, beginning at 11am," he said.
