He is the Operations Director for Skanska, the international construction and project development company, with its headquarters in Sweden. Alex succeeds Robert Carr, the Chairman of the law firm Anderson Strathern, who steps down after three years in the role.
Following the AGM, Mr MacLeod said: "I am a proud supporter of the Chamber of Commerce movement and all it does for business. To be appointed President of the Chamber in Scotland's capital city is a great honour for me and I promise to work tirelessly during my term on behalf of ALL of the membership.

More especially, I recognise the value Edinburgh has and can bring to the Scottish economy and the role its Chamber of Commerce plays in bringing economic opportunity and support to its members, prosperity and employment to the wider economy.
"At a time of uncertainty in the economy, membership of the Chamber of Commerce is an essential investment for any business, large or small. Edinburgh Chamber has been really effective in representing its members' interests and campaigning for a private-sector led recovery. I want to build on this reputation and the outstanding work of my predecessor, Robert Carr, for our members and for the city."
