A new managing director has stepped in to look after operations in Scotland and the north-east of England for Kier Construction.
A chartered surveyor by background, Brian McQuade has 25 years' experience in the construction industry covering consultancy, construction and services provision. He joins Kier from Miller Construction, where he previously held the role of managing director for the past five years.
Steve Bowcott, Kier Group executive director, said: "I am delighted to welcome Brian to Kier. He will be working closely with the established senior team to move the business forward and continue building on the success that Kier has had to date in Scotland and the north-east."
Kier has a robust core workload in the region going forward, including the South Lanarkshire Schools Framework, projects under the Scape framework and a number of education, health and retail schemes in the north-east. In addition, the company has access to an excellent pipeline of opportunities in the area, including, as part of the Alliance Community Partnerships Consortium, £500m of public sector projects to be delivered by the South West Territory Hub in conjunction with the Scottish Futures Trust.
This, together with Kier's recent acquisition of the contracting side of Stewart Milne, ensures that it is able to provide its full range of services across the whole of Scotland.
