Olympia Pool To Open 'Very Soon'

Construction work is progressing on the new swimming pool in Dundee's Olympia centre, a member of the project team has told the Courier newspaper.

Bob Duncan, chairman of Leisure and Culture Dundee, said the swimming pool will be open for people to enjoy "very soon".

The centre, which will feature a 50-metre swimming pool, a wave pool, a dive pool and 500 car parking spaces, was meant to open earlier this year but has been delayed and the schedule has shifted to early in 2013.


Construction has now entered its final phase on the £31.5m building.

Mr Duncan said: ''Members of the project board took the opportunity this week to see for themselves the progress on the new Olympia. I am delighted to say that things are really shaping up well.

''It is becoming so much clearer where all the facilities will be and how they will fit in to what is already an iconic building on a prominent city site.

''Work is continuing to progress and very soon the people of Dundee will have a brand new swimming pool and associated facilities to enjoy.''
