The team behind plans for a new supermarket in an East Renfrewshire town is celebrating after getting positive feedback from residents of the area.
More than 80 people attended a community event on Saturday to view proposals and give feedback.
And 92% of those who gave feedback gave their backing to the store.
Asda is proposing a £20m investment in Barrhead, to build a supermarket and petrol station on a site bordering Church Road, Main Street and the Levern Water.
The store will have a sales area of about 25,000sq ft.
The event, which took place from 11am to 4pm, gave members of the public the opportunity to view the proposed site layout, as well as artist's impressions of what the completed store would look like, and provide feedback on the proposals.
Asda representatives were also on hand to give further details about the proposals and answer any questions.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to view proposals for the store again on Saturday 25th August from 11am to 4pm at Barrhead Sports Centre. And there is also the opportunity to provide feedback on the website: www.asdabarrhead.co.uk.
The proposals will also be on view at the Barrhead Health Centre and council offices over the coming weeks.
Lisa Rooke of Asda said the company would feed all responses back into their plans before submitting a planning application to East Renfrewshire Council.
