People recently made redundant, including those from construction company UBC Ltd, are being invited to an event to help them back into employment.
Two PACE (Partnership Action for Continuing Employment) redundancy support events will be held, one in Stornoway and one in Uist
Led by Skills Development Scotland, the events will take place on Wednesday 23 May at The Bridge Centre, Bayhead Street, Stornoway between 12pm and 2pm, and between 3.30pm and 5pm at Cothrom, Ormiclate, South Uist.
The events will include advice on benefits and tax credits, career guidance, supported job searches, advice on business start-ups, local training opportunities and alternative employment in the area.
Face to face help and advice will be on offer from organisations including Business Gateway, Lews Castle College, JobCentre Plus, Western Isles Citizens Advice Service, Skills Development Scotland, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Highlands & Islands Enterprise and Third Sector Hebrides.
An invitation is extended to anyone in the area who is facing redundancy or who has recently been made redundant.
Iain Maclennan, PACE Chair for Western Isles, said: "Dealing with redundancy can be a daunting experience. In order to respond to these tough times, and help those who have been made redundant, it is vital that we provide the workforce with the necessary support.
"Skills Development Scotland supported by national and local partners, delivers PACE, which is the Scottish Government’s national initiative for responding to redundancy situations.
"The local PACE team will work closely with people affected by redundancy in an aim to minimise the time they are out of work."
