Scottish Water has completed improvements to a reservoir which will benefit thousands of customers in parts of the Port Glasgow area.

The £300,000 capital maintenance project at Knocknairshill reservoir will help ensure it continues to perform well for years to come.

The reservoir provides water for the Dougliehill Water Treatment Works, which serves about 11,000 people in parts of the Port Glasgow area.


The work was carried out by contractors Balfour Beatty for Scottish Water Solutions, a joint venture partnership between Scottish Water and some of the world’s leading construction, engineering and water companies.

Mr Frazer Menzies, the construction manager, said: "Scottish Water has invested in these substantial improvements to an important reservoir because it has a duty to maintain its existing assets to ensure a supply of high quality water to its customers.

"The investment at Knocknairshill reservoir involved extensive repairs to the stone pitching on the reservoir face and the refurbishment and re-lining of the reservoir spillway."
