City Building, one of Scotland’s leading construction firms, has been announced as the main sponsor of the CLIC Sargent Spring Ball taking place this Saturday (31 March) at Hampden Park Stadium in Glasgow.
Scotland’s largest apprentice training provider has teamed up with CLIC Sargent – the UK’s leading cancer charity for children – to support the black-tie event which aims to help raise funds for the organisation.
Bryan Galloway, head of new building at City Building and member of the Spring Ball organising committee said: “We’re very excited to be supporting CLIC Sargent which does an incredible job looking after children and young people who receive the most frightening news of their lives.
“Cancer affects thousands of people, both young and old, and has a significant impact on the lives of their families and local communities. CLIC Sargent works closely with these communities and we hope to help facilitate its good work by incorporating this activity into our community support programme.”
Glasgow City Council’s arm’s-length construction company, City Building, employs around 500 young people through its apprenticeship programme, with many of them delivering services in kind to local primary schools, community facilities and other groups through its Apprentice Community Projects scheme. The initiative enables apprentices to use their skills in painting, joinery and roofing to play a proactive part in improving the lives of their local communities.
CLIC Sargent, area fundraising manager, Richard Donald said: “I would like to thank all at City Building who have provided so much support for the CLIC Sargent Spring Ball. In these difficult economic times it can be hard for companies to justify time and commitment like City Building has. The company has brought so much support to the event through the fantastic sponsorship of the official event programme.
“Only six months ago we formed a ‘business committee’ who will present this fabulous ‘black tie’ evening to you and we at CLIC Sargent are very grateful for everyone’s endeavour. This fun and relaxed ball will consist of a casino, band, games and so many great prizes all hosted by Viv Lumsden and Alan Douglas.”
Tickets are priced at £40 per person or £400 for a table of 10. Tickets are available through the booking hotline on 0141 572 5707 or you can email Richard Donald on richard.donald@clicsargent.org.uk
Galloway continues: “I urge anyone who hasn’t already done so to get a ticket to support this incredibly worthy cause.”
