Robertson, the infrastructure, support services and construction group has officially marked the start of work on a £9 million scheme to create the new primary school in West Linton in the Scottish Borders.
Pupils and parents from the school and Scottish Borders Council were invited to help dig the first sod of the new facilities at a ceremony held earlier this month.
Managing Director for Robertson Construction Group, Derek Shewan, said: "We are thrilled to have been appointed to this exciting contract. We are renowned for delivering first-class education facilities to meet 21st century needs and look forward to working in partnership with Scottish Borders Council to deliver a flagship primary school in West Linton.
"We are confident this important project will create a sense of excitement and innovation which will give pupils and staff alike an outstanding educational environment.
"In addition, the development will also provide a boost to the local economy during the construction process as several local companies will be employed on the project as part of our commitment to community engagement."
It is expected that construction of the new school will take 60 weeks.
Glenn Rodger, Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "I am delighted that works are now officially underway to deliver a new primary school for West Linton and its catchment area.
"By investing in our school buildings, we can ensure our children have a modern environment in which to learn, helping them achieve the best they can for their futures."
