Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is holding a public event in Broadford on February 10 to give the community an opportunity to comment on initial proposals for further development at the Industrial Estate.

Following tree felling work, the agency is investigating the opening up of further areas on the site for local business development.

HIE is holding the event as part of the planning process. Caroline Forsyth of HIE said: "HIE will be interested to hear comments from the community, businesses and other stakeholders on our outline planning application.


"Currently, all units on the estate are occupied, some are privately owned and some leased from HIE and we are keen to explore the options to best meet local business needs, as well as community aspirations, before putting forward any planning application. Having land available is a key element in encouraging economic development."

HIE has carried out an initial feasibility assessment on the potential at Broadford and this has confirmed that the site is capable of development. The meeting at Broadford Village Hall from noon until 5pm on Friday 10 February will allow the community, including existing estate users, neighbours and other interested stakeholders to consider what opportunities can be created.
