Festive Gig Lifts The Roof Off In Aid Of Housing Charity

A group of Scotland’s top bands are gathering in Glasgow tomorrow [22 December] for an exclusive festive gig in aid of housing and homelessness charity Shelter Scotland.

Dan Willson of Withered Hand, tipped by Rolling Stone as ‘one to watch’ will join 16-strong Second Hand Marching Band and indie-folk favourites The Last Battle to play Christmas covers and collaborate on each others’ songs at Glasgow’s 13th Note Café.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to housing and homelessness charity Shelter Scotland.

Gig organiser Pete Liddle, of the Second Hand Marching Band, said: "This is a really special gig for all involved. While most of us are preparing for the festive season thousands of people are homeless and thousands more are struggling to keep their homes. This is our way of supporting the valuable work Shelter Scotland does to help people in need."

Pete added: "The gig will be full of festive cheer with carols, Christmas hits and a few surprise collaborations. We hope we can raise enough money to make a real difference."

The Second Hand Marching Band are expected to fill the stage with their 16-stong troop to play untraditional folk music on a wealth of instruments including woodwind, brass, guitars, accordions, violins and drums. They’re expected to collaborate with six-piece band The Last Battle – leaving little room on the stage.

Alison Watson, Head of Services at Shelter Scotland, said: 'We’re honoured to have some of Scotland’s finest bands showing their support for Shelter Scotland with this one-off gig. Generosity like this enables us to offer vital services to those experiencing homelessness and housing problems across Scotland. We extend our thanks to everyone who has made it possible."
