SIG Energy Management Wins £6m Energy Efficiency Contract

SIG Energy Management has won a £6m Energy Savings Trust tender to install a range of energy efficiency measures for housing associations across Scotland under the Universal Home Insulation Scheme (UHIS).

SIG Energy Management will deliver the groundbreaking energy efficiency programme for seven councils across Scotland: Aberdeen City, Perth & Kinross, East Ayrshire, Moray, Angus, Falkirk and Scottish Borders.

Under the new free-to-all government insulation scheme, 27 councils have been successful in securing funding to provide free energy efficiency measures to over 100,000 households.

Neil Donald, Managing Director, SIG Energy Management said: “This contract is a fantastic win for us, and we are proud to be helping to deliver this great national scheme.

“Not only is energy efficiency vital with colder winters setting in and temperatures plummeting, but it’s paramount to tackling problems of budget deficit and fuel poverty in this region,” added Neil, “through this programme we will provide much-needed home improvements for tenants while improving the cost-effectiveness and sustainability of Scotland’s housing associations.”

The news follows the launch of SIG Energy Management’s groundbreaking Insight programme – a holistic energy management scheme that uses state-of-the-art monitoring and assessment technology to help housing associations improve the efficiency of their housing stock.

Neil Donald added: “SIG is firmly establishing itself at the heart of the energy efficiency industry, which is beginning to gather serious pace against a background of growing legislation and the need to ensure construction projects are sustainable, both economically and environmentally.

“By forming partnerships with local authorities we hope to not only promote energy efficiency at a local level but demonstrate how UK construction businesses can lead the way in tackling the carbon challenge,” concluded Neil.
