GHA Extends Routine Repairs Service

Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) tenants can now get an appointment for routine repairs in the evenings and at weekends.

The Association has extended its service for non-emergency issues – like faulty sockets or problem kitchen units – from 8am till 8pm Monday to Friday and during the day at weekends.

The move makes it easier for tenants to arrange an appointment that suits them.

GHA’s emergency repairs service is available, as always, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Tenant John Evans, from Cranhill, has already benefited from the new repairs service.

He said: “I needed a repair to my bedroom door and the guy came round on a Saturday morning to fix it. He also noticed a spotted a repair that was needed to the front door – and fixed that at the same time.

“Extending the routine repairs service is a good idea. It’s much more convenient.”

Alex McGuire, GHA’s Executive Director of Development and Regeneration, said: “Giving tenants the chance to get a repair done in the evening or at the weekend means fewer people will have to take time off work or college to wait in for a tradesman.

“It’s another way we’re trying to improve our repairs service for our customers.”

The extended service applies to joinery, electrical and plumbing repairs, but will be extended to other trades soon.
