Leading Scottish construction firm City Building has won a £2.1 million contract to provide repairs and maintenance services to West of Scotland Housing Association’s 2877 properties across Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Ayrshire.
Beating off stiff competition to win the three-year contract, City Building was appointed on 1 August 2011 and work will begin with immediate effect.
City Building is Glasgow City Council’s arm’s-length construction company. With turnover of around £200 million, it is the largest repairs and maintenance contractor in Scotland carrying out more than 500,000 repairs every year.
Repairs and maintenance will cover all trades work ranging from minor joinery repairs to complete system renewals. City Building’s skilled tradespeople will undertake the work, including: joiners; plumbers; and electricians
Willie Docherty, managing director of City Building, said: "West of Scotland Housing Association is a key client for City Building and we are pleased that our unrivalled expertise in the provision of repairs and maintenance services has been recognised with this major award."
West of Scotland HA's director of property investment Elinor Taggart said: "The Association is committed to delivering excellence in customer service. We believe our partnership with City Building to provide our reactive repairs service across all our stock will allow us to do just that.
"An IT interface will enable us to provide real time repairs information, appointment-based repairs and a first fix ethos wherever possible to our tenants. All this will be delivered at attractive rates, ensuring an efficient and effective service, while offering training opportunities and community benefit to our neighbourhoods."
City Building provides repairs and maintenance services for clients ranging from local authorities to housing associations. The company’s growing roster of housing association clients include: Glasgow Housing Association; West of Scotland Housing Association; Larkfield Housing Association; Wellhouse Housing Association; Cassiltoun Housing Association; and Elderpark Housing Association.
A number of City Building apprentices will help deliver the repairs and maintenance services. The company delivers training for 500 construction trade apprentices.
