Ayrshire based renewable energy company Solar and Wind Applications Ltd have been working closely with Energy Saving Trust to provide high quality solar PV installations over Dumfries and Galloway and Arran in recent months.
The “Hotspot” scheme, organised by the Energy Saving Trust pitted solar PV installers against one another on quality of service, quality of installations and price in order to choose a recommended local installer to targeted areas.
The scheme has been a great success with nearly double the target number of installations undertaken in the chosen areas, with orders still rolling in. As an added bonus to the end users, exceeding this target means that an additional discount will be paid to them at the close of the scheme, effectively reducing the total cost of the installation and further enhancing the financial returns of their new electricity generating system.
All of Solar and Wind's customer will receive government feed in tariff payment as well as having electricity to use during the day. Many customers who installed through the company also opted to have the additional EMMA (Energy and Microgenerator Manager), made by Irish company Coolpower Products, integrated into their system. The device ensures that all of the power generated by the system is put to good use. Most of these customers will have a tank of hot water heated every day, using the excess electricity which would usually have been exported to the national grid, and also saving on other means of heating water.
Managing Director of Solar and Wind Applications, Mr Rod Macneal, said: "It has been a pleasure to be picked out from the many installation companies out there, and hugely rewarding to be receiving very positive feedback from our customers involved in the Hotspot scheme."
