The Glasgow-headquartered residential letting and property management company Happy Lets, established and run by husband and wife team Bobby and Preet Sandhu, is expanding – in more ways than one.
Not only have the dynamic duo snapped up Surehome Property, a former competitor with prominent offices on Byres Road in Glasgow’s West End and Allison Street in the city’s Southside for an undisclosed sum ahead of a number of other bidders, but Preet has just given birth to the couple’s first child.
Understandably, the happy couple behind Happy Lets have never been happier.
Speaking after the acquisition, Bobby Sandhu said: “Preet and I are both extremely happy with this deal, which takes us a significant step closer to realising our ambition to become the top letting agency in Glasgow and, in the years ahead, Scotland.
“Surehome is ideal as a bolt on to our existing business and will enable us to continue to provide a high quality service to both landlords and tenants. But this is not the end of our plans to grow the business – we are constantly on the lookout to buy other letting agencies that may be seeking an exit.
“We have really dedicated staff with a very professional outlook and, as ARLA licensed agents, we work to the highest standards in letting.”
And the couple’s total dedication to grow Happy Lets is evident in the fact that, just three days before giving birth to her first child, Preet Sandhu was tied to her desk, working against the clock to finalise the Surehome acquisition.
“Although Preet had advised colleagues that she’d be back working very soon after the happy arrival to get the deal concluded; everyone was pretty surprised when they started receiving emails from her on the day she got out of hospital.” added Bobby.
Bobby and Preet, winners of the Scottish Young Entrepreneurs’ Award two years ago, now manage a property portfolio worth over £70 million.
Previously operating under the Harlequin brand, the firm was founded six years ago when property entrepreneur Bobby, 29, married business management graduate Preet, daughter of Glasgow Curry King, Secret Millionaire Charan Gill MBE, and added the management of Charan’s various property investments to Bobby’s burgeoning empire.
The Happy Lets brand was launched two years ago when the firm expanded with the acquisition of The Letting Store in Hamilton, followed swiftly by the relocation of that office into a bigger and more prominent site. These two offices became the twin foundations upon which the enterprising couple plan to build their happy letting empire, which has taken a significant step forward with the purchase of Surehome.
