Architect William Lippe Addresses Aberdeen Trust

A leading North east architect has been speaking about his company’s role in repair work at Aberdeen’s historic Tivoli theatre during an address to a city trust.

William Lippe’s Inverurie firm is closely involved in the landmark project to restore the famous venue to its original glory, and he recently spoke on the topic at the Aberdeen City Heritage Trust’s Annual Lecture.

Established in 2008, the Trust’s Annual Lecture features speakers presenting on a range of national and strategic issues to a specially invited audience. This year the event focused on important projects being delivered in Aberdeen, including the practical realities and complexity of delivery of heritage projects, and the positive outcomes which can be achieved.

Commenting on his involvement in the Annual Lecture, William Lippe said: “The redevelopment of the Tivoli is an exciting project to be involved in, not least because of the special place the venue holds in the entertainment world.

“From an architectural point of view, the building has added excitement of a unique form of ‘no fines’ concrete construction and a near original interior.”

He added: “Phase one of the work will make the building water tight and safe from the elements, including significant repairs to roof, walls and windows and preserve the fabric of the building in readiness for new uses.”

William Lippe Architects recently announced deals worth £5 million for the second quarter of 2011.

Founded in 1985, the company employs 13 staff and provide top quality, professional architectural, space planning and associated services from inception to completion to residential and commercial clients throughout Scotland.
