Children from a local school created history when they joined Sanctuary Group and Seddon Construction to bury a time capsule on the site of a new £8m care home in Yarnton.
Annabelle Mundy, 11, and Amber Morris, 10, from William Fletcher Primary School donned hard hats and hi-visibility vest when they went to the site of Sanctuary's Yarnton Residential and Nursing Home, which is situated next door to the school on Rutten Lane.
They helped to bury the capsule that they and their classmates had filled with artwork and poems on what they thought life would be like in 70 years.
The time capsule was buried with the help of the new home manager Sarah Rawcliffe and Martin Hillson from on-site partner Seddon Construction, near the entrance of the new building which will have 60 en-suite bedrooms and is due to open in November this year.
Sarah Rawcliffe, Sanctuary Care's home manager said: "It was a wonderful event and we were so pleased the school children could be there after playing such a vital role in producing items to put in the time capsule.
"My staff and I are really looking forward to the coming months when we’ll be welcoming people into the information suite and talking to them about their care needs before officially opening the home in November."
Grant Millar, Seddon Construction's Business Unit Manager added: "Seddon Construction is very proud to be part of the team delivering the new care home facility at Yarnton. It has been a pleasure to work with such a professional team who are committed to deliver such a high quality and cost-effective care home.
"We would also like to thank the staff and children from the local school for their help in providing the time capsule’s contents and for attending the burial event."
