Clackmannanshire Bridge Signs For Key Roads

New and revised road signage for key routes to the Clackmannanshire Bridge will soon be installed, Transport Minister Keith Brown said today.

The signs which will be strategically placed on the main approaches, identifying the Clackmannanshire Bridge, are to be installed in the coming months.

Mr Brown said: "The Clackmannanshire Bridge has already brought economic benefits and opened up access to communities across Fife and Central Scotland, whilst easing congestion and improving safety.

"With an investment of £120 million in the Saltire Society award winning landmark, it is only fitting that we use the opportunity to update road signage to mark this vital link.

"The signs are further evidence of our commitment to improving driver information in central Scotland and come on the back of the recently announced multi-million pound M876 Glenbervie interchange project."

Councillor Eddie Carrick, Portfolio Holder for Sustainability at Clackmannanshire Council added: "We are absolutely delighted that the people of Clackmannanshire will now get to see the name they chose for the Clackmannanshire Bridge on major road network signs. We had an overwhelming response when we asked residents to put Clackmannanshire on the map.

"To see Clackmannanshire signposted as being at the hub of central Scotland is fantastic and a credit to the thousands of residents who petitioned the Scottish Parliament to name the bridge."

The new signs will be located at M9 northbound (prior to Junction 6); M9 southbound (by Plean) and M876 northbound (north of junction 2 by Glenbervie). They have been commissioned and are expected to be delivered and installed by the summer. Existing signs will be revised as they need to be replaced, starting with two signs located on the northbound M9 at Junction 7 Kinnaird House.
