Morris & Spottiswood Helps Replace Wellshot Primary’s Stolen Cash

Glasgow-based Fit out, Housing and Maintenance company Morris & Spottiswood dug deep in their pockets to the tune of £2,500 to help out local school Wellshot Primary in Shettleston.

The school held a Highland Games in January, but the money raised was stolen in a shock break in at the school recently. A donation to the school by the sons of much loved Janitor Peter Cunningham who passed away last year was also taken.

Morris & Spottiswood has recently donated a £1,500 Smartboard for the primary 1 class, but when they heard about this crisis, the company donated an additional £1,000 to help replace the stolen funds.

“We’ve been carrying out building work and refurbishment for Glasgow Housing Association near Wellshot Primary for nearly 2 years,” said Morris & Spottiswood Chief Executive Chris Saxton.

“When we started building in the area, we kept in touch with the school to ensure that the children were aware of how to stay safe near our sites. We were so impressed by the dedication and the commitment from teachers and the connection they have with the children. We wanted to encourage this positivity and show the school that their efforts were admired.”

School head teacher Jennifer McCluskey said: “We are extremely grateful to Morris & Spottiswood for the Smartboard they donated for our Primary Ones. The additional £1,000 has completely overwhelmed our staff, children and parents.”
