A North-east manufacturing company has marked the official opening of its purpose designed headquarters.
Ellon-based LFH Engineering welcomed Gordon MSP, Alex Salmond, Scotland’s first minister, to the facility to see firsthand how the firm has developed since setting up almost a year ago.
During the visit Mr Salmond toured the site, inspecting the company’s specialist machinery – in which LFH recently invested more than £400,000. This investment has enabled the company to establish 24 hour operations in response to continuing demand for its services, while expanding the production capabilities of the company as a whole.
The company, which specialises in the manufacture of marine diesel engine coolant pumps, has also significantly increased staffing levels during this time and currently employs 32 staff.
On opening the factory, Gordon MSP, Alex Salmond praised the continuing success of the firm.
He said: “The North-east is known around the world for its engineering expertise, and LFH is a fine example of top engineering output. From the diesel engine pumps and ship propulsion systems produced here to the engineering talent of our skilled offshore industry, this area boasts a wealth of technical ability that is second to none.”
Managing Director, Les Hill, was delighted to have the opportunity to show Mr Salmond the work LFH carries out on a daily basis.
He said: “During the visit I had the chance to speak to Mr Salmond about the importance of a strong UK exporting market to companies like ourselves and the hopes that we have for the future of our industry.
“The past ten months have seen a great deal of change and development at LFH. This has been matched by a great deal of optimism throughout the industry for the future of the manufacturing sector, something which we are committed to being a part of.”
LFH Engineering is based at Castlepark Industrial Estate, Ellon and has an impressive client list including Rolls Royce, MAN Diesel and Caterpillar.
