Knight Frank Completes UK Offshore First

Knight Frank’s building consultancy team has completed Maersk Training’s first UK offshore training centre in Aberdeen.

The new centre has been created following the redevelopment of an existing facility at Badentoy Industrial Estate, Portlethan into a bespoke 14,000 sq ft facility with ancillary external training facilities.

Knight Frank provided Maersk Training with architectural, project management, CDM-C, and cost control services to create the new centre which will provide safety and crisis management training for the energy, marine and other industrial sectors.

The centre boasts a training pool with overhead crane for HEUT training, external fire fighting area, lifeboat training rig and additional training classrooms and simulators internally with associated office and welfare facilities.

Roddy Morrison, associate, Knight Frank said: “This was a very interesting and unusual project to get involved in. The design required careful and sometimes complex planning to ensure the facility, as a whole, met the stringent requirements of both the building regulations and training governing bodies”.

Duncan Bonner, Managing Director of Maersk Training UK said: “We were extremely impressed by the professionalism of Knight Frank and the overall execution of the project and we are naturally excited about bringing this new enterprise to Europe’s energy services capital.”

Andrew Cowie Construction, Oldmeldrum acted as principal contractor alongside specialist contractors, A-Consult, Dansk Technologies and Street Crane.
