The Wester Ross community of Kinlochewe is set to benefit from a major investment planned by Scottish Water.

A new drinking water production plant is being designed to ensure a high standard of supply is maintained for customers in the area. The work will require a planning application to be submitted and Scottish Water is inviting local people to see what is proposed.

An exhibition will be held in Kinlochewe Village Hall on Thursday 10 February between 3.30pm and 7pm. Members of the public can drop in to view drawings and speak to Scottish Water’s project team.


Joanna Peebles, Scottish Water’s Communities Manager for the Highlands, said: “Kinlochewe water treatment works supplies clear, fresh drinking water and we plan to invest to maintain this high standard. Modern filtration equipment will strengthen our ability to produce a top quality supply all year round. We’re only at the design stage at the moment and it could be some time before any activity takes place but we want to keep people in the picture.”

Kinlochewe’s supply comes from the A’ Ghairbhe river. The new plant will use modern membrane filters to remove all impurities down to microscopic level. This method also ensures the clarity of the finished product.
