Aberdeenshire Council is organising two open days for residents of the Bervie Braes, Stonehaven, as a £3million project to stabilise the slopes moves forward.

The information days are due to take place at the Invercarron Resource Centre, Stonehaven, on Saturday, February 5, and Sunday February 6.

Saturday’s session will run between 10am and 4pm, with Sunday’s running from noon until 4pm. Formal presentations on the project are scheduled for 2pm on each day.


Those attending will be able to learn more about the proposed stabilisation project, view technical drawings, and ask questions of representatives of Aberdeenshire Council and geotechnical experts Jacobs Ltd.

Householders will also be able to discuss updated liability waivers required by Aberdeenshire Council as part of the project.

A planning application for the project is expected to be considered by the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee in March, while tenders for the works are expected to be considered by the Policy and Resources Committee in April.

Subject to approval, work on the scheme could potentially begin in May, although some initial clearance works may be required in February.

The Scottish Government has pledged £2million towards the scheme, while Aberdeenshire Council will provide the remaining £1million.
