Veterans who served in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders have now taken up residence in eight newly built bungalows courtesy of the charity Erskine in Renfrewshire.

The ex-servicemen, George Collins and Charlie Haggerty, moved into two semi-detached bungalows built on behalf of the charity by Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts.

Handing over the keys along with Gary Gray, deputy chief executive at Erskine, Paddy Malone, contracts manager for Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts, said; “Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts couldn’t be prouder in delivering high quality housing to such a deserving initiative.

“This is the second phase of development, further to our completion of eight bungalows earlier this year. We now have a further phase of ten veterans’ homes to look forward to building.

“The process has been a real collaborative effort and we carefully considered the design of the new bungalows to ensure they cater for ex-service personnel for many years to come.”


This latest series of move ins signifies the end of phase two of the Erskine development two weeks ahead of schedule.

Gary Gray added: “We are delighted to welcome the two veterans and their families to their new homes, marking the completion of phase two of our rebuild programme.

“I am sure that this will make life considerably easier for those ex-service men and women to whom we are indebted and we now look ahead to the start of phase three.
