A workplace design firm has been shortlisted for a major business award.
Aberdeen based commercial architect Space Solutions has been named on a four company shortlist in the Best Medium SME category at the Insider SME300 awards – which recognise the achievements of successful small and medium-sized firms across Scotland.
The firm, which is Scotland’s biggest independent expert in helping businesses manage change within the workplace, is the only North East-headquartered finalist in the award category. In order to make the shortlist, companies have to achieve an annual turnover between £10million and £20 million and must have demonstrated impressive performance in their sector over the past 12 months.
The Best Medium SME nomination follows Space Solutions’ impressive performance on the recent Insider SME300 list – one of the country’s most prestigious business barometers - which saw the firm rise more than 100 places over the last year.
Steve Judge, managing director at Space Solutions, said: “This has been a challenging year for many businesses in Scotland, so to be nominated for this prestigious award is a real testament to our hard work over the past 12 months.
“In the last year, we have risen 119 places on the SME300 list and are now in 70th position, which is a tremendous achievement. In 2009, we achieved an increase in revenue of 28% to £16.4m and our current projections show that at the end of 2010 we will be 10% up on last year’s figures –showing just how well we have been performing.
“What is particularly encouraging is the fact that we are one of the few companies in our sector which has continued to prosper in recent times, and I feel our growth demonstrates how well we’ve adapted to change in a difficult market. Our geographical spread and our diverse range of services have also been key to our success.”
The SME300 award winners will be named at a ceremony at Glasgow’s Radisson Hotel on Thursday 25th November.
Space Solutions operates UK-wide - from bases in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Livingston - to design, build, fit out, refurbish and relocate modern and productive business environments.
