An Aberdeen-based records management and document scanning services provider is to invest £3million in the establishment of a new base in Dundee.
C21 Data Services (C21) has agreed a ten-year lease for a large storage and conversion facility at Fulton Road, within the city’s Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate.
Established in 1998, by Managing Director, Stuart Johnston and Technical Director, David Harkins, C21 provides hard copy data storage, digital records management and software solutions to an impressive portfolio of clients in a wide range of sectors.
The company is headquartered on Crombie Road, in Aberdeen, and currently has four data storage centres across the city, totaling 30,000 square foot.
The new Dundee facility considerably increases the storage capacity C21 can offer its clients, as at 33,000 square foot, it is larger than the combined capacity of its existing Aberdeen premises.
C21 currently employs 12 staff and expects to take on a further six employees in the next three months to operate the Dundee facility, with current operations manager, Sean Storrie – who has been with the company for nine years – relocating to Dundee to lead the team.
The Dundee centre is already proving to be an attractive offering for local businesses, with C21 having secured its first major new client for the facility. Aberdeen-based oil and gas operator, CNR International (UK) Limited, has agreed a document and magnetic media storage contract with the company.
Stuart Johnston, says the expansion is a significant and exciting milestone for the company.
He said: “We have worked hard over the last twelve years to establish a strong reputation as a leading provider in the field of records management and believe we are now in an excellent position to expand our service provision further afield.
“Aberdeen has always been our core business area and it will continue to be key to the success of the company going forward. The opening of the Dundee facility is, however, part of our planned expansion into other geographical markets. It is the perfect hub for all of Scotland’s major cities and affords us the possibility of establishing stronger links with businesses closer to the central belt and securing clients in these areas.
“We have committed to a significant investment in our new premises and are therefore delighted that CNR International has signed up to be the first of, hopefully, many new clients to utilise our Dundee facility for cost effective data management and digital services.”
