A technical workshop on the proposed redevelopment of Campbeltown Marina has been hailed a great success.
The event, held last week, was part of Argyll and Bute Council’s technical feasibility study into the proposal and was hosted by Hyder Consulting (UK) Ltd.
The consultants presented their findings and recommendations to date, and provided technical details in connection with the various aspects of the study.
The workshop was well attended by stakeholders and individuals interested in the marina development, and many issues were raised and discussed. Hyder Consulting (UK) Ltd will now look into these issues as they continue their work on the technical feasibility study.
Councillor John Semple, Chair of the Campbeltown CHORD Project, said: “The technical workshop provided an excellent opportunity for stakeholders and the people of Campbeltown to see the detailed technical work done by the consultants which is now at a very advanced stage, and for the local sailing fraternity to be able to question and validate that work.
“There is still some way to go with developing this project. However, we have made a significant step forward with this latest study. What we have now is something less aspirational and more fit for purpose, which is in keeping with the times in which we live.”
Feedback forms were distributed at the event. If anyone who was not able to attend would like to send the team their views/suggestions for the Campbeltown Marina Project, please contact Fiona McGregor on 01546 604255, or e-mail: fiona.mcgregor@argyll-bute.gov.ukto request a form. Copies of the presentation are also available if requested.

Sail West, a €7m flagship project, seeks to encourage and increase sailing tourism in the West of Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the North West of the Republic of Ireland, and also to encourage more sailing traffic between these three regions.
