Over the next five years Scottish Borders Housing Association will be investing over £30 million to bring Tenants’ homes up to Scottish Housing Quality Standard.

Improvements to be funded include:

* An 18 month programme of improvements in the smaller, rural towns and villages;

* Investment in upgrading or installing heating in over 1400 homes;

* A programme of energy efficiency measures for homes that are hard to heat;


* Over £1.2m will be spent on improving and upgrading Amenity homes

* A bathroom replacement programme for over 1350 homes;

* 1700 kitchens to be upgraded or replaced; and,

* 952 homes have new windows.

Ray Licence, SBHA’s newly appointed Chairman said: "This work builds on the ongoing investment in improving our Tenants’ homes and demonstrates our commitment to our Tenants. "Having been involved with SBHA for over 6 years, and now as Chairman of SBHA, the focus of the Association has always remained on providing the best options for Tenants and delivering an efficient service. Even in this current economic climate, SBHA is delivering on the planned improvement programme to Tenants homes."
