Stirling Council's Beauly to Denny Power Line Steering Group is preparing for the publication of Scottish Power Transmission's Stirling Visual Mitigation Scheme at the end of September.
The Steering Group called for effective and inclusive consultation by Scottish Power, and is proposing that four public meetings be held in Causewayhead, Plean, Cowie and Fallin with a final meeting in Stirling.
During the 6-week public consultation period Community Councils, key stakeholders and individuals will have the opportunity to give feedback on the proposals through the Steering Group or directly to Scottish Power Transmissions.
Once agreement has been reached with Scottish Power Transmissions on the format of the consultation meetings the dates, times and venues will be announced through local media and on the Council website.
Last month the Steering Group welcomed the announcement by Scottish Power Transmissions to provide an extra consultation period to allow local communities to express views on the company’s Visual Mitigation Scheme proposals before these are submitted to Scottish Ministers.
The Visual Mitigation Scheme document is set to be published on the Scottish Power Website as well as Stirling Council Website: when it becomes available.
Chair of the Steering Group Councillor Callum Campbell said: “Scottish Power Transmission’s willingness to change their approach to their submissions to allow essential consultations with our communities on the visual mitigation measures is acknowledged as a positive step by the company. Communities affected by the power line are now being given the time to digest the Visual Mitigation proposals and give their feedback once it is published.
“We must however stress that the public meetings will not be debating the rights and wrongs of the power line as this time has past, it’s about making sure what is being proposed by the company is the best possible outcome for this area.”
The proposed 440kv power line passes through the Stirling area from Kinbuck to Glenside, near Plean. Scottish Power are required to develop a visual mitigation scheme for their section of the line from Sherrifmuir through Logie, and past Fallin, Cowie to south of Plean.
