Shelter Scotland Benefits From Exclusive Designer Mug Collection

Shelter Scotland, the housing and homelessness charity, is calling on people across the country to get down to their nearest John Lewis store and purchase an exclusive ELLE Deco limited edition designer mug.

This fabulous range of limited edition mugs, is featured in the September issue of ELLE Decoration, and is part of an exclusive collaboration with John Lewis and ELLE Deco in aid of Shelter.

The collection features four different mugs from the UK’s best design talent, including milliner Stephen Jones, illustrator Sanna Annukka and artists Richard Woods and Rob Ryan all of whom have been personally selected by Michelle Ogundehin, Editor in Chief at Elle Decoration.

Not only are they a fantastic one off design piece, the mugs are all stylishly gift wrapped and 50% of the on sale price of £7 goes directly to the housing charity. The mugs hit the shelves of all John Lewis stores on the 1st September 2010 and will be available online at www.johnlewis.com from the 8th of September 2010, so buyers need to be quick and snap one up to avoid disappointment.

There are 43,000 children living in overcrowded conditions in Scotland. Living in bad housing robs children of their health, education and future prospects. The money raised through this exclusive partnership will go a long way to support Shelter Scotland’s work helping thousands of badly housed children across the country.

Graeme Brown, Director of Shelter Scotland, said: “Shelter Scotland is really excited about the limited edition designer mugs and the exclusive partnership with ELLE Decoration and John Lewis. The association with these two established brands will not only raise vital funds for Shelter Scotland but will also help increase awareness of the depth of the housing crisis.

“We are calling on people across the country to get down to their nearest John Lewis store or visit online and snap up a limited edition mug today.”

Michelle Ogundehin, Editor of ELLE Decoration, adds: “At ELLE Decoration we feel very strongly about the importance of a sense of home, and the need for a place to call your own, where you are surrounded by things that you love and that make you happy. And because everyone needs mugs, we thought this would be a brilliant everyday essential for us to work with. The four designers were chosen because they all represent very different points of view and could show a wide view of what’s possible as Art on a mug.

She adds: “Shelter has been ELLE Decoration’s charity of choice since I became editor in 2004 because I believe so strongly in the absolute need for everyone to have a place they can call home. I also have a huge respect for John Lewis’ guiding motivation of simply offering everyone the best quality products at the best price with the best service, so I’m thrilled we made this happen.”
