Workplace design specialists Space Solutions is to partner with one of Scotland’s largest charities in what’s believed to be one of the first ‘business’ collaborations of its kind between the private and charitable sectors.
Cornerstone has appointed Space Solutions to handle all its property requirements across Scotland.
The strategic partnership will see Space Solutions provide a range of services, including site finding and feasibility studies for potential social enterprise projects, designing and building specialist accommodation for people with disabilities and the fit out of regional offices.
Cornerstone, which provides a range of services for people with disabilities and other support needs, has offices and operations in 14 local authority areas.
Space Solutions Managing Director Steve Judge said: “We have great experience in working with various organisations in the third sector which has allowed us to develop a clear understanding of the specific requirements of organisations such as Cornerstone.
“We’ve seen many charities, such as Cornerstone, develop so that they now understand the importance of being more commercially focused.
“But we have been impressed by how well organised Cornerstone has been and how they have not been wary about looking at their operations and costs in a more business-like way.
“It’s a tribute to Cornerstone’s forward-thinking that it has the benefits of working in partnership with a private company to ensure it delivers best value. We are not aware of any other partnerships of this nature.”
Edel Harris, Chief Executive of Cornerstone, said: "We have worked with Space Solutions on a number of very successful projects in the past and are delighted to have agreed this strategic partnership.
“They can look after all our property requirements in-house as well as having an understanding of the way the voluntary sector works and an appreciation of the sensitive nature of some of our projects.
“The new partnership will see Space Solutions support us to deliver competitive tender submissions while providing comprehensive and complete solutions in relation to our capital project plan."
Space Solutions is Scotland’s biggest independent expert in helping businesses manage changes within the workplace. It operates UK-wide - from bases in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Livingston - to design, build, fit out, refurbish and relocate modern and productive business environments.
