Road resurfacing work worth more than £820,000 is about to be carried out on Mull, Islay and Jura.
The tender has been won by Ennstone Thistle Ltd, and work is programmed to start on Mull before the end of June. The resurfacing on Islay and Jura will be done once the Mull projects have been completed.
The locations and budgets of each scheme are:
-Mull - A849 Kintra (£90,000), A849 Pennyghael (£75,000), C46 Glenbellart (£75,000) and B8073 Tobermory to Dervaig (£250,000).

-Islay – A846 Shore Street, Bowmore (£129,000), B8016 Bowmore to Port Ellen (High) Road (£135,000).
Councillor Duncan MacIntyre, Argyll and Bute’s spokesperson for Transportation and Infrastructure, welcomed the news.
“These projects are those which the council viewed as being of the greatest priority,” he added.
“I am aware that local residents have been keen to see something done about these particular sections of road for some time, and I am delighted that work is about to start on them.
“We’d like to apologise in advance for any disruption caused by the works, which will of course be kept to an absolute minimum.Any delays will be kept to a maximum of 20 minutes at any one time and, where available, diversionary routes will be well signposted.
“The council’s roads operations team will of course be carrying out further general maintenance work throughout the year, as resources allow, on roads throughout the islands.”
