Shepherd Chartered Surveyors has appointed Adrian Drummond as a residential surveyor, based in its expanding Glasgow office.
Originally from Seaham Harbour in County Durham, 28 year old Mr Drummond is a graduate of Northumbria University, where he gained a BSc (Hons) in Estates Management on day release whilst gaining practical ‘on the job’ experience as a trainee surveyor with a local firm. Following his degree, Mr Drummond sat his Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Surveyor in 2007.
Having relocated to Glasgow last year, he lost no time in securing a position with a housing association, for which he carried out EPC surveys throughout Scotland.
Mr Drummond said: “I’m delighted to join Shepherd at a time when there is ample evidence of Glasgow’s home market emerging from the recession. From my experience, Scotland’s residential market appears to be riding the recession better than south of the border, perhaps due to the Home Report system, which differs from England’s failed HIP system.”
Martin Waite, partner in Shepherd’s Glasgow residential office, said: “I’m very pleased to be able to welcome Adrian to our burgeoning residential team. This appointment confirms that residential activity in Glasgow is most definitely on the rise. There are now sufficient indicators in the market to prompt us to look for growth on a positive footing.
“Adrian’s appointment reasserts the appeal of residential surveying as an attractive career choice as we emerge from the recession. Whilst the Home Report has led to a lesser volume of surveys, these surveys are more detailed and, consequently, the service level we offer to the residential market has risen significantly.”
