A £500,000 programme to modernise and upgrade Erskine Swimming Pool has launched Renfrewshire Council's £92 million investment programme Building Better Communities.
Refurbishment work is already underway at Erskine Pool and set to be completed by June.
Among the improvements are a new changing village including family changing and spacious lockers, new poolside sauna, vanity area, feature showers, and reception and viewing area. Other improvements include a new buggy park and upgraded toilets.
"This major investment marks an important first step in delivering Renfrewshire Council's ambitious £92m investment in communities across Renfrewshire," said Renfrewshire Council Leader Derek Mackay.
"There's been a lot of hard work to get to this stage and now we are beginning to see the investment taking shape.
"Over the next three years we'll see a new £33.7million Park Mains High School with enhanced sports facilities for community use. Sports hubs will be created at Linwood Sports Centre (£24.1m) and the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley (£7.1m) and Johnstone High School (£6.3m).
"A new build St James Primary School and Moorpark Pre-5 Centre and a redesigned and upgraded Kirklandneuk Primary will also be provided in Renfrew.
"The council has taken a strategic approach to maximise the resource we have to integrate community, education and leisure facilities and services.
"The scale of the council's investment, particularly in these difficult economic times, is a vote of confidence in Renfrewshire's future."
Erskine Swimming Pool, along with a range of pools and sports centres in Renfrewshire, is managed by Renfrewshire Leisure on behalf of Renfrewshire Council.
The main contractor for the refurbishment of Erskine Pool is Clark Contracts.
