Young Port Glasgow footballers have netted some valuable support from Glasgow-based Lovell.
Lovell, which is currently building 195 homes at three sites in Port Glasgow for River Clyde Homes, has presented the Port Glasgow Juniors Boys’ Club under-11s team with 20 tracksuits for the young players, as well as tracksuits for the coaching team.
Team manager Ronnie McKay said: "We’re really grateful to Lovell, the club is non-profit making and relies entirely on sponsorship to survive, and so this kind of help is vital. The boys are playing some fantastic football and this will be another great boost for them."
The Port Glasgow Juniors Boys Club under-11s side plays in the Johnstone and District Youth Football League. The teams train at Newark Primary School and St Stephens High School, Port Glasgow, and play their home games at St Stephens High School, Port Glasgow.
Alan Taylor, regional director for Lovell which is based at the Glasgow Business Park, said: "We’re very impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication of the Port Glasgow Junior Boys’ Club and are delighted to have been able to help the under-11s team by kitting them out with new tracksuits. We wish them every success in their future matches."
Angela Spence, head of regeneration for River Clyde Homes, added: "River Clyde Homes is keen to gain added value in its community regeneration projects and the Lovell sponsorship is a good example of this."
Lovell is building 195 homes for River Clyde Homes at three sites in Port Glasgow, near Greenock, in Inverclyde. The new housing, worth £22 million, is the first to be built by Lovell under its four-year framework agreement with the housing association. The homes are being built for rent through River Clyde Homes and for existing owners and include 32 homes at Moray Road, 61 homes at Oronsay and 102 homes at Woodhall.
