An £8.2 million Glasgow primary school, autism unit and early years campus has been officially opened.
Children and staff from Aultmore Park Primary School, Aultmore Park Autism Unit and Beechwood Nursery worked very hard on the final arrangements for the official opening of their new building.
On Monday Councillor Paul Rooney, Executive Member for Education for Glasgow City Council, joined parents, officials and members of the local community, to watch the children mark the special occasion with a mixture of singing, dancing and Chinese dragons.
The new school campus, funded by Glasgow City Council, opened for lessons on the 17th March 2009. The theme of the celebrations focused on the first year in operation of the new building.
Designed in house by the council's Development & Regenerations Services department, the campus was built by City Building.
It was born from the merging of the merger of Easthall Primary School, Provanhall Primary School and Wellhouse Primary School to form Aultmore Park Primary School. Beechwood Nursery is an almagamation of Easthall and Newhurst nurseries.
Aultmore Park Autism Unit was originally called Barlanark Autism Unit and was based at Barlanark Primary school before the move to the new building.
Cllr Rooney said: "This is great day for the children, parents and staff of the school who are now enjoying having a state of the art building.
"All the young people here today now have an opportunity to enjoy an enhanced learning environment.
"I know that in the coming years these new facilities will help to continue to foster and develop the positive work ethos of the children and staff at Aultmore Park Primary, Autism Unit and Beechwood Nursery."
The capacity of Aultmore Park Primary School is 429 and the current school roll is 351. The school has 14 classrooms, 2 GP rooms, Library Media Suite, Gym, Assembly/Dining Room and a seven a side synthetic pitch.
Beechwood Nursery has one large 3-5 year old playroom, one 2-3 year old playroom, one physical playroom and an external play area.
Aultmore Park Autism Unit has five class bases, one GP room, one soft play area and an external play area.
