Scotland's largest publicly funded construction project, the £840 million South Glasgow Hospitals Campus, reached a key milestone this week.

Scotland's Deputy First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, performed a ground-breaking ceremony on the site.

The new 1109 bed adult hospital, 256 bed children’s hospital and laboratory facilities will be fully operational by 2015, with Currie & Brown acting as Technical Advisor and Lead Consultant in support of the NHS Project Team.

The project has been at the leading edge of procurement and is recognised for its sustainable and innovative approach to delivery. Alan Seabourne, Project Director for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: "Currie & Brown has supported the development of procurement on the project that has been extremely efficient and effective, having been thoroughly researched and analysed for risk, benefits and deliverability in advance of market engagement.


"They (C&B) have worked with us in close partnership and have a detailed understanding of the key drivers, as well as compliance with national standards and have responded with a high degree of flexibility to ensure that our complex and demanding needs are met."

Currie & Brown, one of the UK’s leading specialists in property asset management, is providing complete advisor services to the Board from inception to completion and has developed a bespoke version of develop and construct procurement for the project delivery.

The new South Glasgow hospital is the second phase of the health board’s acute services review, which last year successfully completed the development of its £190 million Ambulatory Care and Diagnostics project to build the new Stobhill and Victoria hospitals - also technically led by Currie & Brown.

Currie & Brown will be co-located on-site with the NHS and Brookfield teams through the build phase of the project, a resource supported by the healthcare teams in the Scottish offices of Currie & Brown located in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the new location at Maxim Office Park, Eurocentral.
