Bar Design Challenge

Students up and down the county are raising their glasses to leisure furniture specialists Satelliet-Browns who have challenged them to design their own bar.

The winning designs will be showcased on the firm's stand at the Bar 10 Exhibition, the major trade show which will be held in London in June and brings together industry leaders, key decision makers, and top designers.

The competition is open to interior design students at colleges and universities across the UK, and it could unlock the door to a successful career.

Former winner Ruth Blizzard who is now an interior designer with renowned international architects Austin Smith Lord said: "Apart from being great fun, winning the Design Challenge was a massive help in landing my job.

"You really can’t beat having a line in your CV which says 'winner of a national design competition'.

"But the other great benefit, and this applies to everyone who enters, is that the judging panel includes some of the country’s top designers, and you never know what might come of them seeing your work."

Harvey Ockrim, MD of Satelliet-Browns said: "Being asked to design the bar of your dreams might sound like the ultimate in enjoyable assignments, but it is actually a very serious and highly competitive challenge.

"We run the competition because good design is a key element in the success of new bars and clubs, and we believe it’s vital to encourage talented young designers to take an interest in our industry."

Full details of the competition which gives students the pick of the full range of Satelliet-Browns Collection 2010 to furnish their dream bar, are available on the firm's web site: www.satelliet-browns.co.uk

Entry is free and the closing date is May 7.
