Scottish Borders councillors have agreed to select Sainsbury Supermarkets as the preferred bidder for the Pinnaclehill site in Kelso.

A report on the outcome of the re-marketing exercise for the site was considered in private at a full Council meeting on Thursday.

The decision is now subject to the consent of Scottish Ministers.


Councillor David Parker, Leader of Scottish Borders Council, said: "I am very pleased that the Council has been able to make a decision to select a preferred bidder following the conclusion of the most recent marketing exercise.

"The people of Kelso have waited patiently for a very long time for a supermarket and I hope that today's decision will be the foundation stone that secures the supermarket with petrol filling station and new employment land for Kelso."
