Residents in Kirkcaldy, Kinghorn and Burntisland are invited to come along to a series of drop-in events to find out more about the Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan in their local area.
Fife Council Development Services has prepared Draft Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans for four Conservation Areas in the Kirkcaldy area: Abbotshall and Central Kirkcaldy, Kirkcaldy Harbour and Port Brae, Kinghorn and Burntisland.
These appraisals are management tools to help to identify the special historic and architectural interest of an area and provide the basis for identifying a programme of actions and measures to protect and enhance the conservation area.
Copies of the Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans for the relevant area will be available for residents to read and comment on in the local libraries during the week beginning Monday 14 December.
Fife Council staff will be in attendance to answer any queries relating to the Conservation Area Appraisals at the following times: Burntisland Library 10am-12pm; Kinghorn Library 2 – 4pm, and Kirkcaldy Central Library 5 -7pm.
Councillor Alice Soper, Chair of Kirkcaldy Area Committee, said: "The appraisals of our conservation areas is a very valuable exercise and helps us to continue to protect and enhance our existing conservation areas and develop measures to protect their special status.
"We are not obliged to carry out these appraisals, but it is good practice and I hope that the communities concerned will participate in the displays and pass on any comments or information that they have to the officers working on the Appraisals."
