Housing association tenants in Dundee are set to benefit from a specialist energy efficiency advice service.
A report to the city council's housing, Dundee Contract Services and environment services committee on Monday (December 7) will recommend that the Dundee Energy Efficiency Advice Project (DEEAP) be expanded.
The project operates from the council's housing department and the report proposes that its work be used by registered social landlords through a service level agreement with them.
A partnership would be agreed with the housing associations who, subject to finalisation of a service level agreement, would provide funding of £52,400 for an additional officer for DEEAP. The housing groups are Abertay, Angus, Hillcrest, Margaret Blackwood, Servite, Sanctuary Scotland and Home Scotland.
Housing Convener Councillor Jimmy Black said: "The project has an important role to play in tackling fuel poverty by providing a range of services in the city. These include various initiatives to improve energy efficiency of people's homes and advice that can help them increase their incomes.
"Although DEEAP provides a service to all residents of Dundee, the funding will enable it to be expanded. Housing association tenants will benefit from an agreement that will give them the full range of services that the project provides.
"The council sees eradicating fuel poverty as one of its priorities and the more people that can be helped with their heating costs the better."
