Rothesay Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) is having a 'Maintenance Week' from 20-27 November to kick-start the project.
The event coincides with the national Maintenance Week, promoted annually by the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB).
The key event will be an educational day at Rothesay Castle from 10am-2pm on Saturday, November 21. Historic Scotland employees will be on hand to offer their expertise on the importance of repairing and maintaining historic buildings, and how best to do so.
There will also be questionnaires for members of the public to complete, asking their opinion on the potential for Rothesay town centre. The same questionnaire will be available on the Council's website.

The educational day is the first in a series of events designed to promote and develop Rothesay's Stage 2 bid for Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) money.
Among the other events planned are exhibitions, workshops, construction skills training and heritage trails.
The Rothesay Castle event will also give local people the chance to meet Lorna Pearce, the new THI Project Officer.
"Maintenance Week is the perfect opportunity to care for your building, to get some expert advice about building repairs and to learn more about the potential of the THI and how you can take part in securing its sustainable future," she said.
Lorna is leading the efforts to ensure that the THI project secures the necessary grant funding through the submission of a successful Stage Two bid to Heritage Lottery Fund in April/May 2010.
Only once any Stage Two bid is successful will grant funding be available for those properties identified within the THI area.
Argyll and Bute Council will be playing its part in Maintenance Week by clearing gutters of debris and vegetation from buildings within the area.
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings' National Gutters Day – part of Maintenance Week – is on Friday, November 27.
