One of Germany's leading low carbon house builders, WeberHaus, has formed a partnership with Scotframe Timber Engineering Ltd to facilitate the manufacture of their build system in Scotland.
As well as bringing significant investment and jobs into the country, the new partnership will make it easier for individuals, specifiers and architects across the UK to choose one of Europe's highest quality build systems, which is already fully certified by the UK’s Building Research Establishment and significantly exceeds all current UK building standards.
WeberHaus has a long-standing reputation in creating innovative and highly energy efficient buildings and the company’s renowned expertise in developing sustainable, low carbon homes is driving its ever-growing market in the UK.
The exclusive WeberHaus UK production licence agreement with Scotframe will include a high level of production and technical support to allow the company to manufacture the award winning closed panel system of housing.
With its significant investment in equipment and a new standalone facility, coupled with the transfer of WeberHaus technology and expertise, Scotframe will be the first and sole company to produce this product in the UK.
Speaking about the announcement, chief executive of WeberHaus, Ralph Mühleck said: "The UK market is vital to our growing business, which is why WeberHaus is taking this major step. Our high quality product is ideally suited to Scotland and the UK industry’s commitment to a more sustainable future. This agreement not only makes our product more widely available for UK projects, but enables us to manufacture locally and reduce our miles to market, which is ideal."
Speaking about the new partnership, managing director of Scotframe, Bob Edwards, said: "The partnership with WeberHaus offers both our companies the opportunity to broaden our horizons and ensure we both remain at the forefront of this growing industry.
"We shall be relocating to a more substantial facility in the Cumbernauld area and investing heavily in additional production machinery and equipment. This will ensure we continue to maintain our reputation for quality and service whilst we manufacture the WeberHaus system alongside our market leading and highly successful timber frame products."
