Abram Pulman & Sons Ltd. was established in 1830 as a steel stockholding company. Today, we are a leading steel processing centre in the North of England.

Comprehensive Stock Range
Our steel stockholding is comprehensive to enable fast turnaround on deliveries when required. Products we stock comprise of general steels, engineering steels, bright steels, sectional steel, sheets and plates. You can have full confidence in the Pulmans team as our staff has a vast knowledge of, and a wealth of experience within the steel supply industry. This is vital when working with challenging projects with tight deadlines as you need to be sure that the products ordered are delivered on time.

Steel Profiling
Gas and plasma steel profiling are two methods of cutting steel to a specific shape. Gas cutting uses a stream of oxy propane for cutting the steel, while plasma cutting uses a high-temperature plasma arc to do the same.

Gas cutting is a relatively slow process, but it is the most economical method of profiling steel. It is often used for cutting thick steel or for cutting shapes that do not require a high degree of precision.

Plasma cutting is faster and can be a more precise method of profiling steel than gas cutting. It is often used for cutting thin steel or for cutting complex shapes.

The type of method used for steel profiling will depend on the desired shape and the thickness of the steel.

Steel Sawing Services
Using the latest computer controlled saws, all of our steel stock can be cut to length whether batch quantities are required or just one offs.

With 6 precision saws we aim to provide accuracy and quality as well as a fast turnaround and prompt delivery.

Machining Services
A versatile range of machining services can be performed on-site using our vertical machining centre. Profiles cut with our oxy-propane or high definition plasma profiling machines can be further processed through drilling, tapping, counter-sinking, notching, machining and milling.

Our full range of machining capabilities can also be performed on sawn lengths of our flat bar, angles, channels, beams, hollow section and more - allowing customers to order fully-processed steel products and minimise on-site labour.
