Heat Pumps
A Heat pump is the best low carbon heating solution for a residential or commercial building. There are many different types of heat pump system, all of which bring different benefits to property owners in the UK. A heat pump can reduce your utility bills, reduce your carbon footprint, and funding is available for most domestic clients and property Landlords.
Air Source Heat Pumps.
The Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) extracts heat from the outside air and distributes it indoors through heating and hot water systems. Most property owners installing an Air Source System can benefit from the new Boiler Upgrade Scheme in England, or the Home Energy Scotland Loan in Scotland.
This system is particularly suitable when outside ground space is limited. A Ground Source Heat Pump requires trenches or boreholes to be dug, whereas an Air Source Heat Pump fan unit can be attached to an external wall. This type of heat pump can deliver efficient heat to the property regardless of climate, weather, or temperature.
Ground Source Heat Pumps
A ground source heat pump (GSHP) extracts heat directly from the ground. The sun heats the earth every day, meaning the rock or soil beneath the surface can offer a natural source of consistent low-grade heat.
Property owners can install a vertical or horizontal ground source system. The former uses deep drilled boreholes, and the latter uses shallower trenches. The system circulates a solution through pipes or loops, which absorbs the underground heat and filters it through a heat exchanger into the pump.
A ground source heat pump is a super-efficient heating system, delivering year-round heat to residential and commercial properties.

Reviews & Testimonials for IMS Heat Pumps
Before meeting Suzzane I contacted several companies. IMS were the only company that were fully prepared for my meeting. Suzzane came over as being very knowledgeable and got the business instantly. Co-ordination from the contracts department ( Steve ) was spot on and the flexibility perfect as I'm doing a self build. The installation by John, again was spot on, I like a nice tidy job, pipework looks great and straight. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I am very happy. I can only recommend IMS to do the work, end off.

A really helpful team. Great technical advice for what we needed and installed quickly when the team said they would, working in partnership with the other company doing the kitchen installation. A few teething troubles quickly sorted the same day they were raised. The pump is now working well even in cold temperatures. I've rated value for money lower as this is still a really expensive purchase and I hope the costs come down so more people can move to more environmentally friendly heating. - So much better than our old kerosine boiler!

Owner of a recent New Build; therefore, did not deal directly with IMS Heat Pumps. However, process from initial request through installation to commission was thorough and seamless. Very heat and tidy installation with complete documentation pack provided afterwards. Would highly recommend IMS Heat Pumps for any renewables' installations in Perthshire.

Heat Pump Manufacturer Vaillant, in collaboration with renowned property expert and Channel 4 presenter Kevin McCloud, has announced IMS Heat Pumps as one of the winners of its prestigious Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge. The competition sought out the most intriguing and innovative heat pump projects in the United Kingdom, shedding light on the practicalities and benefits of installing and living with this low-carbon heating technology.
IMS Heat Pumps, who have offices in Sheffield and Perth, are one of the UKs leading heat pump experts who have completed over 300 installations in past 3 years alone. No strangers to challenging heat pumps installations, their winning entry showcased a Grade-II listed barn conversion. Despite initial scepticism about installing a heat pump in a 400-year-old stone cottage, IMS Heat Pumps successfully navigated the challenges posed by the heritage features, including 2'6'' thick walls and an 18-foot-high kitchen apex. The heat pump system designed and installed by IMS Heat Pumps effectively met the heating and hot water requirements of the property.
The Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge was launched in response to the growing popularity of heat pumps in the UK and the need to address the lingering questions and misconceptions surrounding their installation and functionality. Vaillant's research revealed that many installers and homeowners hesitate to embrace heat pump technology due to concerns about performance in colder weather, operating costs, and compatibility with different types of homes.
IMS Heat Pumps, with their outstanding project submission, emerged as one of the winners of the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge, demonstrating that correctly designed and correctly installed heat pumps do work and are suitable for almost any home.
The homeowner, taking advantage of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS), reduced their initial installation costs and reported that the running costs of the heat pump system were comparable to gas. Even during the coldest months, with temperatures plummeting to -7°C, the homeowner expressed satisfaction with the warmth and comfort provided by their home.
As part of their victory in the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge, IMS Heat Pumps will have the incredible opportunity to film alongside Kevin McCloud, showcasing their winning project and sharing their expertise with a wider audience. This recognition further solidifies IMS Heat Pumps' position as a leader in the field of heat pump installations, demonstrating their commitment to innovation, problem-solving, and exceptional customer satisfaction.
"We are absolutely thrilled to be named one of the winners of the Vaillant Heat Pump Challenge," said Emma Bohan, General Manager of IMS Heat Pumps. "This recognition highlights our dedication to overcoming challenges and delivering efficient, sustainable heating solutions for homeowners. We are excited to collaborate with Vaillant and Kevin McCloud and showcase our winning project, inspiring others to embrace the potential of heat pump technology."
