About Hold-Fast Radiator Valves
Welcome to Hold-Fast Radiator Valves Ltd
Sole UK manufacturers of replacement Tamper-Proof Safety Tops for all radiator valves ...
Our Universal Safety Tops are ideal replacements for the lost, damaged or stolen tops from your radiators in your home, school or public building.
The biggest problem with missing tops is the safety aspect. An uncovered valve spindle is an accident waiting to happen and is considered a HSE issue. See our press cuttings for details of previous accidents.
One of the biggest problems with most replacement tops is that they are just as easy to remove as the original tops; ours, on the other hand, retain their simple fitting, but are very dificult to remove.
Facilities managers – one of the biggest issues with most replacement tops is that they are just as easy to remove as original tops. Hold-Fast Radiator Valves, on the other hand, are simple to fit and feature a retaining clasp that makes them very difficult to remove.
We supply many schools and other public buildings, where liability for the safety of others can be both tragic and expensive. Choose from our range of three universal replacement tops.
Our Domestic Top, which covers valves and pipework from 8mm to 15mm. This size is mainly found in domestic properties, but may occur in offices and the like.
Our Commercial Top, which covers gate valves and pipework 15mm and above. This size of valve and pipework is typically found in schools, public buildings and older office premises.
Our Thermostatic Top, which provides a replacement for the temperature sensitive part of a thermostatic valve.
Improve and make your environment safe NOW!
Do you want to be held responsible for the next accident?
The Hold-Fast Radiator Valves range of Universal Safety tops are straightforward and easy to fit, typically less than 5 minutes and tamper proof. They offer considerable savings when compared to the alternative to the time and mess involved in replacing a complete valve.
For contract and project requirements, please email or use the contacts page on our website. Also available from plumber’s merchants and online retailers.
Hold-Fast Universal Safety Tops are fast, easy to fit and tamper-proof.
No experience or special tools are required to install them.
The Universal Domestic top fits all known valves up to 15mm (½").
The Universal Commercial top fits all known valves 15mm to 25mm (½" to 1").
The Universal Thermostatic Replacement Head fits all known thermostatic valves, both commercial and domestic.
It's a small price to pay to make your surroundings more pleasant and secure.

I had two radiators with broken valve tops, so I thought I would give these a try, and they were perfect. I now have two working radiators.

I was concerned that my little one would easily pull of the old lockshield valve covers and injure herself on the brass valve head so these items looks like a good way to stop that happening.
They fit really snugly over the valve body, and cannot be removed after fitting unless you bust them. It’s a one shot deal. That said, it's better to have a cover over the valve than nothing at all, as the consequences of a baby impaling themselves on a brass valve head do not even bear considering.

Universal Domestic Safety Tops
Following the outstanding success of their replacement Universal Domestic Safety Tops for valves upto 15mm, Hold-Fast Radiator Valves Ltd have extended their range with a new Universal Commercial Safety Top, which features the Tamper-Proof advantage. It will fit all known valves from ½" upto 1". The new Safety Top requires no special tools to install and is easy to fit. Now, Hold-Fast say, there is no need for lengthy site visits to find out the various size of valves requiring replacement tops; given a fast and easy fit; and, with just the one-unit price to consider, the job costs to contractors should be dramatically reduced compared to previously and with a subsequent saving to cash-strapped Councils and busy Facilities Management (FM) teams. One national heating service organisation has fitted over 5000 in 2018 alone, delivering comfort, economy and safety into all the homes it services.

Teenager loses an eye in school rough-and-tumble
SURGEONS were due to operate today on a boy who was blinded in the left eye during a school rough-and-tumble.
But they have been unable to save the sight of the eye which 13-year-old Andrew Mitchell injured when he fell awkwardly on to a radiator valve.
The valve’s cap was missing, leaving the 2 in. metal spindle protruding.
Andrew was playing with his pals in a corridor at Oakbank Grammar School, Keighley, West Yorks when he fell. Staff rushed to his aid.
“The spindle drove straight into Andrew’s eye,” said one teacher. “He was in terrible pain and we did our best to comfort him. It was an appalling accident.” Andrew was rushed to hospital where surgeons tried in vain to save the badly-injured eye.
John Roberts, headmaster of the school which is due to opt out of local authority control later this week, said: “Staff have been told to watch out for missing valve caps. But pupils often remove them.”
National Union of Teachers health and safety officer Frederick Binns said schools had been warned about the danger of not replacing valve caps on the older type of radiators.
Andrew’s parents, of Bronte Drive, Oakworth, were too upset to comment on the tragedy.
